  1. Misunderstood

This song started out with the plaintiff cry of "I feel misunderstood!" and Rick built the song around it. And he's especially fond of the humor in the lyric 'And I know that you're no good...but, I like you anyway." And, yeah, he knows the now familiar phrase, "Can you hear me now?" is instantly recognized...it's prefaced with "I'm here and now" a couple of times to offer up its own scenario....he says it's a fun song to sing....

Lyrics

“Misunderstood”
By Rick Landers © 2019

Well, I’m sitting in tall grass
Watching dark clouds roll in
And my dreams unrealized
Well, one just might have been

Sometimes I feel so incomplete
I just stop and stare
Well, I guess I didn’t quite say things right
Now you’ve disappeared

Here and now
Here and now
Can you hear me now?

My glass of wet red wine
This well it’s runnin’ dry
And you say you’re not in love
You cry, no reason why

And I feel like I’m misunderstood
Just trying to make my way
And I know that you’re no good
But I like you anyway

Sometimes I say some things (Bridge E-A-D)
they're not quite what I mean
If you’ll just listen close
to the love that’s in-between

Sometimes I say some things
We end up breaking up
I’m trying to do my best
But, It’s never quite good enough

And I feel like I’m misunderstood
Sharp words keep failing me
I sputter inexplicable things
They’ll be the death of me

And I feel like I’m misunderstood
Just trying to make my way
And I know that you’re no good
But I like you anyway

Here and now
Here and now
Can you hear me now?

And I feel like I’m misunderstood
Just trying to make my way
And I know that you’re no good
But I like you anyway

Sometimes I say some things (Bridge E-A-D)
they're not quite what I mean
If you’ll just listen close
to the love that’s in-between

Sometimes I say some things
And we end up breaking up
I’m trying to do my best
But, It’s never quite good enough

Well, I’m sitting in tall grass
Watching dark clouds roll in
And my dreams unrealized
Well, one just might have been
