  1. True North

I wrote "True North" having developed a chord and melody structure for it, then came up with the lyrics. As the lyrics came together, a story evolved about a boating accident off the coast of Mexico, where the man's true love passes away and he roams the country to find his "True North"....

“True North”

I’ve been to Mexico
I’ve felt the True North of pain
Now she’s somewhere up in Maine

A world of shifting sands and
Living beyond our dreams
They say she still waits for me

I never realized that Love would
Make her call
Then leave me on my own

I never thought that I’d crawl
A victim of her silly games
And be the next to fall

Tears running down my face again
Tears running down my face
Tears running down my face again
These tears running down my face

Once lived in Kankakee
This man once rode those rails of steel
Now, there’s no more heart to heal

I lived my life with one true love
A ship of broken sails
We crashed into the rocks while sirens wailed

(Instrumental Break)

Tears running down my face again
These tears running down my face
Tears running down my face again
These tears again
These tears again

I’m on the open road
Seems there’s no Northern Star for me
Still I’ll see where my life leads
I’ll hitch a ride and flip a coin
Sing a song about hurt and me
A dream forever lost at sea

I never realized that Love would
Make her call
Then leave me on my own

I never thought that I’d crawl
A victim of her silly games
And be the next to fall

Tears running down my face again
Tears running down my face
Tears running down my face again
These tears running down my face

Tears running down my face again
These tears running down my face
Tears running down my face again
These tears again
These tears again
My tears
