I began writing this decades ago, then tonight (8/8/26) added a bit more to it....recorded it on my iPhone so I wouldn't forget it. I wanted a short song about love lost...beyond the grave that lingers in the heart and in the scent from old letters…
Lyrics
"Dancing Alone"
(c) Rick Landers 8/8/26
(5/B)
Rick (guitar/vocals); Irwin Anolik (djembe); Jim Nagle (dobro); Larry Tapper (harmonica); Bruce McDonald (keyboards)
I saw you dancing alone
So many teardrops like rain
The music was playing quite low
My heart surrenders calls your name
A billion stars up in the night
Promising true love would never bend
Traveling true loves endless flight
This love will never end
The night we met
A glowing light, like I’d never seen
You turned your head
I held my breath
You claimed your prize, as if
I was some store bought novelty
With no regrets
How my heart was bled
(Instrumental Break)
And when I dream of all the love
We could have made beyond the grave
My heart is spent
I tied a ribbon ‘round the
letters that I saved
They have your scent
Still have your scent
I saw you dancing alone
So many tear drops in vain
